I stamped the ISC hibiscus image with Ranger jet black ink, then using Marvy Markers, watered colored the flower image...All stamps are ISC http://www.innovativestampcreations.com/ 
I finally got to play some with my newest Cuttlebug embossing folders...I used my Original Technique Design with the Pumpkins and Dots folders...This is a sample I made to show a friend...I used the Pumpkins, colored with inks, smoothed the embossing flat, then ran thru the Dots folder...rubbed the ink pad across the dots...
I made a card with the sample below...stamped verse from Victorine Originals...
I used the pumpkin embossing folder, colored the pumpkins and leaves/stems with inks...smoothed the embossed areas flat using my bone folder, then ran the piece thru using the autumn words folder, and rubbed the ink pad directly over the raised embossed words...I created this design technique using the various layers of embossing with the folders and have more samples on my blog of my technique...Layered dry embossing using the Cuttlebug folders is fun and easy to do...experiment on scraps to see what folders work best together...for more info debbiesdiecuts@yahoo.com
I am really having fun with the foiling techniques on the Cuttlebug embossed frames...The black frame with oval cut out was embossed with the swiss dots folder...I then put foiling adhesive on each little dot and around the outside edges as well as the oval inside edges...I used a mixture of gold and copper applied kinda hit and miss style...I colored the bird and wing die cuts with gold metallic ink, then embossed and rubbed with black ink...I then used caramel adirondack ink to deepen the gold color, attached the wing with a gold brad...I used some silk flowers, added a black punched daisy and gold brad center...
I just had to play some more with the foiling and frames today...I had fun with these two today...
This frame has the look and feel of leather...kinda like a faux leather effect...I ran the white cardstock frame thru the cuttlebug embossing folder, then painted each diamond shape with the adhesive for foiling...I used the rainbow foil and then randomly used versa mark on the white areas left...then used perfect pearls and pearl ex on the entire piece...I then used some tea dye distress ink to darken the edges of the frame...I then used a soft cloth and burnished the piece...I am going to use this frame in a project coming soon...
I wanted to cover an entire frame with the rainbow foil and then emboss it...it turned out great...
but, I had to go one step further...I added some black ink to the raise areas, then used the foiling adhesive on the embossed areas and used copper foiling in a hit and miss fashion on the swirls...I trimmed the edges with a copper metallic marker...It looks really cool...could not get the lighting just right for the photo...but I will be using this in a future project, so stay tuned...
Ok...I am taking this foiling to the extreme, huh?...I ran in the studio after work today to finish up these to show...I used some different foils and flakes with the adhesive on the different cuttlebug embossing backgrounds...
This one uses a Mother of Pearl foil I got about 12 years ago...I love this one...very subtle pretty colors...I applied the glue with my fingers, when dry, layed the foil on and rubbed to apply...
This is beautiful in person...I will get a better photo in the studio tomorrow maybe...I used the Rainbow foiling on this one...I love it...I did the colors so that they were very random on the birds, vines and leaves...I trimmed the frame with a gold paint pen...
This tag uses the flakes on the embossed areas...I was in a hurry with this one...as it was an after thought...I could not find the flakes I wanted to use...and had to use what I could get my hands on this afternoon...I do like the look...I have some more experiments to do with some of these tomorrow...if they work...I will share them...if not...you won't hear a peep out of me...LOL...
I was trying to get the colors to show up using a lamp...i normally photograph in natural light...but its so windy here today...I could not be outside to do it...will try again tomorrow...
I love those embossing folders...I also love combining them with other techniques...I started this...and just got to finish it...I have another in the works too...will share it later this week...I love to use Foil/metal flakes/Leafing flakes/foil...what ever you want to call it...its cool stuff...anyway...I ran the black cardstock frame thru the cuttlebug embossing folder, then with my finger, applied the foiling adhesive to the raised areas...kinda hit and miss...I did not worry if it was exact...because I wanted the frame to look like old metal...once the adhesive was dry...I applied the copper colored foil...I have one with flakes, but did not get it finished yet...I used this to frame a photo of my husband and brother with their moma one Easter sunday...I made an easel back for the frame...I like the way this one turned out...wait til you see the other one...So, get out that adhesive and foiling medium that I know you have...and create some awesome pieces using your Cuttlebug embossing folders...For more info email me at debbiesdiecuts@yahoo.com I am always more than happy to share...
I love using the Layered Dry Embossing Technique on the bazill cardstock...that white core if fun to expose and use as part of a background...
I used the swirls first, sanded lightly, smoothed down, then used the stripes, sanded lightly, smoothed down, then used the dots and sanded lightly and smoothed down...
I have been asked by a few folks lately for another step by step way of doing my technique...I created this technique last fall..and waited until I got the newer Cuttlebug Embossing Folders before showing it...The first step is to choose 2 or more folders that you want to use in layers with each other...I have done as many as 5 layers, just to be sure it works with that many...I prefer 2 or 3 depending on what else will be added to the piece...Begin by embossing your first layer...here I have done the striped one...
Add ink by just rubbing the ink pad lightly over the raised embossed area...i usually work with lighter colors for my first layer, increasing intensity of color as I work...
I use my bone folder to smooth the embossing back out...but Jane says it also works to run it back thru just the plates on your machine...without the folder...i have not tried this...as I just enjoy using my bone folder to smooth the layers of embossing back down...I have a piece of fun foam under my work surface and this works for me...
when i say smoothed back flat...see the top layer is an embossed one, the second is embossing then smoothed back flat with my bone folder...
This is the second layer of embossing...
Then I add the coloring the same way, just rubbed the ink pad lightly over the raised area...
the last layer of embossing on this one is the dots...i love those dots...you will see me use the dots alot...
I used a darker green color on the dots as well as the embossed velllum piece that I tore from the sheet...this will make a neat embellishment for a card or scrapbook page...
Patina, Copper metallic and gold metallic coloring on the Cuttlebug embossing...I love this folder...reminds me of screen wire...kinda old rusty wire here...

I have some more to add to this tag, but wanted to show it...I had another sample, and have lost it amongst my piles of stuff in the studio...Here I used two different Cuttlebug embossing folders on the same tag...I started with a white tag, base coated with black acrylic paint...then added copper metallic to the top area of the tag and blue metallic to the bottom area...then after Cuttlebug embossing both areas...I used black acrylic paint to color the embossing...I added some black spattering and gold metallic paint accents...I added the gold ribbon along the separation line and hopefully will finish it tomorrow...
I had to push the envelope again with this tag...I stamped the swirl from Innovative Stamp Creations for a background, then using various Cuttlebug embossing folders used my Layered Cuttlebug embossing technique...This time I smoothed each layer flat including the last one...I use my bone folder to smooth the embossing down...but you can use the back side of a spoon also...
I then stamped the images from Innovative Stamp Creations and added some black spattering and gold and copper metallic paint applied randomly...I could not get the photos just right...but this baby looks cool...
This heart was fun to make...I used Watercolor paper...added some random color using reinkers and a dampened sponge...when dry...I Cuttlebug embossed the flower design...colored with lime green ink...then smoothed flat with my bone folder, or you can use the back side of a spoon...I then ran the heart thru using the dots Cuttlebug embossing folder...I colored that layer with Carnation pink ink...
I added some gold metallic ink randomly applied with a piece of scrunched up saran wrap using a pouncing or dabbing motion...I then spattered the piece with black acrylic paint...
I wanted to show some step by step of the Layered Cuttlebug Technique I created so you could really see the effects...This tag shows the first layer of embossing, color, then smoothing flat...Smooth flat using a bone folder or the back side of a spoon...do this carefully, so you don't tear your surface...The cardstock/paper, etc will still feel textured, but will let the next layer of embossing be more prominent...
This dots are the second layer embossed, colored, smoothed flat...
The diamond or harlequin embossing was next, colored then smoothed flat...I was kinda on a roll here...LOL...I wanted to experiment with how many times I could make it work and still look ok...
I added the last embossed layer of the flower, positioning the tag so that the flower was right where I wanted it to be...which is another neat thing about doing this...you can do part or all of a piece...
I spritzed on some marvy marker ink...added some gold metallic paint and then used some gold glitter paint for the flower center...which is still wet in this picture...But the tag looks so cool...Just wait until you see the next idea I have for this Layered Embossed Technique...Just not enough hours in my studio time today... It was brought to my attention that in my instructions I really was not very specific about what to use to smooth the various layers of embossing with...I use my bone folder or the back side of a spoon...Just make sure that what you use is smooth...so as not to tear into the raised areas...
Pink that is...I love teal and hot pink together...Great Spring colors too...I started by Cuttlebug embossing the swirl background first, then using my technique added color to the swirls and flattened them smooth...Then I ran the tag back thru another folder and used a hot pink ink to color the flowers and swirls on that layer...
I spritzed with some black ink and added some gold metallic paint here and there with a scrunched up piece of saran wrap...
I will finish the tag later...but just wanted to share the color combination on this one...
I created this technique using the Cuttlebug Embossing Folders because I love backgrounds...and during all my years of Decorative Painting, I loved to create unique backgrounds and then add decorative paintings over the top of the background...This technique which I call Layered Dry Embossing with Cuttlebug Embossing Folder is so easy and fun to do...You begin by running your piece thru a Cuttlebug embossing folder...Apply inks, chalks, paints or other coloring medium you choose...Once that is dry, flatten the embossed or raised area...I do this by rubbing my bone folder over all the embossed areas to smooth is as flat as possible, be careful tho, not to tear your piece...now, choose another Cuttlebug embossing folder and run the same piece thru...This time add the coloring to the raised embossed area using a coordinating color...You can then add some spattering or even gold metallic paint randomly...
These are two samples I did today with some of my newer Cuttlebug Embossing Folders...I have a pile of stuff to work on next studio time I get...This is so fun and I have so many ideas going at once...
This was the tag I made this past fall when I first began experimenting with creating this technique...I loved the effect...
On this piece I used metallic paints on both embossings...be sure the first layer is dry before you flatten or you might mess the paint up on the embossed areas...
I also played around with various colors of cardstocks...and my technique works great with all colors...
This piece shows the technique on pattern paper...its a very subtle background of leaves on the pattern paper...but it looks awesome...I like the effect very much...
