Ornament boxes with Innovative Stamp Creations
I just love my new stamps from Innovative Stamp Creations....The background script, tree and scroll image were perfect on this ornament box...
After I stamped all the images, I used butterscotch ink and my stipple brush to color the box...
This is one of my favorite ornament boxes so far...I love using the large scalloped punched shape with the ISC image...I attached it to the box, using a red heart brad...I created a new cookie for the holidays...and this will be perfect for my employee Christmas party favor...
I used the ISC ornament stamped in Maroon over the entire box, that stamp is so awesome...I then lightly dusted the entire box with Library Green ink...I used a beautiful red raffia from Really Reasonable Ribbon to tie the box closed and make the hanger for the ornament...Now, I have to make 27 of these...and then make the cookies to go in them...Be sure and check out the special on my studio blog for a pack of these ornament boxes http://thestudioinpreston.blogspot.com/ Tell me you saw this posting about the ornament boxes, and get a special freebie with your order...Saturday, November 10, 2007
Ornament Box-Perfect for a Shower
This box would be perfect for a shower, baby or wedding...just change colors as needed...I started by stamping the Harlequin background stamp from Innovative Stamp Creations all over the box...
Then I ran the die cut heart thru the Cuttlebug embossing folder...I inked the folder up with Tropical Raspberry Sea Shell ink, then embossed the hearts...I used a sponge to add extra ink to the edges of the heart...this helps create dimension...
I made bows from green 1/8" ribbon...glued them onto each heart using Ranger Glossy Accents...I also used the the Glossy Accents to glue the hearts onto the box...before the box was put together...
Attention to detail...be sure your bows are as close to the same size as you can make them...The beautiful ribbons used are from Really Reasonable Ribbon...Elvis Ornament Box
I stamped the Elvis images from Stampsmith onto the box, then used my color duster and Stonewashed Blue Adirondack ink to dust the box to a light blue shade...
I think Hershey Kisses added to this box would make a great treat to share with anyone...Well, anyone you want to give a "kiss" to...
This is the bottom of the box...Handpainted Rose Bud Ornament Box
This box was so much fun to make today...and brings back so many memories...I have painted this rose bud on everything you can think of for over 20 years...I used the Ranger Adirondack Acrylic paints along with my decorative painting brushes and Plaid Floating Medium...
I then used my spritzer and some marvy water based markers to speckle the box after it was painted...I love that look...
I added a simple leaf border to the box bottom...The beautiful pink raffia used to tie the box is from Really Reasonable Ribbon...Ok...lets get them paints and brushes out now girls...Handpainted Ornament Box-HowTo_Tutorial1
Begin putting your box together...leave one of the sides not attached...so it becomes the flap to open and close the box for adding and removing treats, etc...
I like to use a large eye needle to thread my fibers, ribbon, etc thru the holes in the box top...begin from the out side, going in, then back out thru the next hole...
then repeat with next two holes...
and the box should look like this, once you bring the loose side up, to tie it closed...
another view of the raffia, after being threaded thru the holes in the box top...Handpainted Ornament Box-HowTo_Tutorial
continue tying the box closed...
you can tie a simple bow, you can add more foo foo to the box tops also...I am the simple tied bow kinda gal...so this is about all you are gonna get...LOL...
My favorite way for using them as ornaments is to not tie the bow, but to bring both ends up and tie a loop...The beautiful raffia I used on this box is from Really Reasonable Ribbon...Debbie Littlejohn has some awesome ribbon, fibers, raffias and more...check out her stuff, I just got another order in from her today...yeah...I am in fiber heaven...
Here is the finished, put together handpainted snowman ornament box...I feel a few more of these in my future...Stay tuned, more to come with this awesome die cut box...Be sure and check out my studio blog for ordering info and special offers from Debbie's Die Cuts http://thestudioinpreston.blogspot.com/for more info email me at debbiesdiecuts@yahoo.com and to see all the die cuts I have and more samples from past projects visit my picturetrail site at http://www.picturetrail.com/debbiesdiecuts

Hand Painted Ornament Box-by Debbie Bankston
I started with a white die cut box, colored it with Faded Jeans Distress Ink from Ranger...when the box was dry, I used Adirondack Dauber paints to paint my snowmen...I use my decorative painting brushes and paint these little snowmen freehand...
I have been painting this little snowman on various surfaces for almost 20 years...I used to basecoat terra cotta pots dark blue and paint this snowman on them...The paint was still wet, so I could not put this box together yet...I will show you the finished box this weekend...I have so many more boxes in the works...Thanks for letting me share my passion for creating with you all...Ornament boxes--another addiction
Well, now I just can't get enough of making these ornament boxes using my pyramid box die cut...This is just part of the list I have made for myself to try out... Giraffe ornament box-stamps from Prickley Pear Rubber Stamps...Snowman ornament box-stamps from The Stamping Studio...

Giraffe Ornament Box
I stamped the giraffe from Prickley Pear Rubber Stamps onto opposite sides of the box, then stamped phrases on the other two sides...
I masked the giraffe images and then stamped the background image all over the box die cut, then stippled with Butterscotch ink...Then I colored each giraffe with chalks, then lightly dusted each giraffe with ink...
I am liking this box...hmmm...more ideas to come...Tuesday, November 06, 2007

More Altered Box Art

I got to work on some of the boxes I have been making notes about in my journal...I keep a journal for all my ideas...Sometimes at night, when I have my down time before bed...I make notes to myself about stuff I want to try with my die cuts...I draw little diagrams for how I want to place embellishments, add ribbon, layer, etc...I go back and look at my journal when I have studio time...and then work on my ideas...Sometimes an idea just won't work the way I would like...and other times, they work better than expected...Here are the boxes I created today...Three of the boxes use stamps from some of my favorite companies...and one box does not use any stamps...just scrapbook paper and embellishments...Hope you enjoy these as much as I enjoyed making them...

Pyramid Ornament Box

I love these little pyramid ornament boxes...They are perfect for decorating a themed holiday tree and then give the little ornaments filled with goodies to your guests...Can you imagine, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years, Valentines, St. Patty's, Easter and more...I have one of those "charlie brown" Christmas trees, that I decorate for parties, events, etc...Stamp up a bunch of these pyramid ornament boxes, fill them with goodies, handmade or store bought and let your friends and family take one when the event is over...This one uses the Snowy Days snowman set of Ready Stamps from www.thestampingstudio.com ...I will have more to share later...
