Fun Foam: Cuttlebug Embossed

This was so cool...I used my Heat It heat tool to heat up the fun foam...keep the heat moving over the foam...so you don't melt or burn it...then quickly lay the piece of warmed fun foam in the Cuttlebug embossing folder...close folder over fun foam and quickly roll back and forth with a rolling pin a few times...I did a large piece and some die cut shapes...and the effects are so cool...

Decorative Painting on Terra Cotta Pots

One of my favorite surfaces I used to paint on was terra cotta...I loved the pots and trays...I did a whole series of pots and sold them for a while at my local Wild Birds Unlimited store...this was one of two...that I decided not to sell, after I painted them...I love Chickadees...they are my favorite little bird to watch at my feeders...this is a half pot, that used to hang on the wall in my kitchen before I moved and I would use it for utensils and such to go in...I also have a regular pot that I painted the same bird on that I use to keep rolls warm on my dining table...but it mostly sits on top of my china cabinet...anyway...just thought I would share this one...since I unpacked it while going thru boxes today...I really miss my painting...and as soon as I can get that studio up and running...I want to paint again...

HIT Cards

I had fun making these two cards...My mother in law is the Queen of her Red Hat group...so I am constantly trying to find new things to make her or to make for her to give to her group...We are thinking of having a card making class with them this fall...and one of these just might be the project we do...The first cards background is the Cuttlebug embossing folder Script background with ink rubbed over the embossing...organza ribbon was then layered to one side...and the images from www.heartsintouch.com were torn out and distress ink rubbed all around...On the second card, I just rubbed the background of the card with distress ink and added the plaid ribbon with my Fastenator...

Snowman ATC

I love snowmen...gosh, I miss painting them from my decorative painting days...but I sure enjoy using rubber stamp images of snowmen...I love the ones from http://www.thestampingstudio.com/ Melissa has a few different snowmen themed stamp sets...and as always...her stamps are awesome...My custom ATC die cut frame was perfect to layer over the snowman stamped ATC...I ran the frame thru the snowflake Cuttlebug embossing folder and then colored the frame with Stonewashed Adirondack ink...I used chalk pencils on the snowman...he is not quite finished...as I have to make 6 more of these for a swap I am in...so I may fuss over him a bit more by then...

Christmas Card in July

This card was fun to make...I used some tissue paper, glued it to cardstock, trimmed to card front layering size..then ran it thru one of the Cuttlebug embossing folders...Then I ran my Tea Dye Distress ink pad across it...I stamped the Christmas image from http://www.innovativestampcreations.com onto white cardstock, sponged it with tea dye distress ink...use my southwest corner punch from marvy and added some gold thread fibers...I layered all this onto a dark green card...

This is the Altered CD for a swap on SSR yahoo group...I enjoyed making the envy to go with the CD...

Photos for book

These are the four photos I am using in this envy book...I worked very hard creating these garden areas in our yard...and we love to watch the butterflies and hummingbirds come to the blooms...These are just a small part of the different flower beds I have...but since these are the most viewed ones...I try and keep them up...

Layered Envy Card

I have not made one of these cards in years...I layered some pattern paper on the inside of the envelope...then matted the photo, added some embellishments...I did not have time to make the closure for it today...but it will be a simple folio type closure...I will take another photo when I am done with that part...

Embossing Addict

I am just crazy with ideas...between my die cuts, and these Cuttlebug embossing folders...I am just addicted, hopelessly to creating more new ideas and techniques for using them...I love my largest frame die cut its 5x7 with a 3 x 5 opening...or something along those lines...anyway...I wanted to use it, but be able to have the embossing on it...and it works...I just embossed one side, then the other thru my Big Shot machine...makes for a very interesting frame now...I used some ink and a stipple brush to color the white die cut after embossing, then rubbed the same color pad across the raised embossed surface...Its a Nick Bantock ink, cerulean azure I think...I just call it that tealy looking blue that I like...

Cool Embossing Folder Techniques

These embossing folders with the words are killer...thats good where I come from...LOL...anyway...I just did a scrap piece to show ya the idea...I embossed using the Cuttlebug embossing folder, then rubbed with Weathered wood distress ink pad...works better to build it up in layers of ink...than trying to press too hard to color it in one swipe...I just layed the ink pad flat onto the embossed area, and lightly rubbed across, repeating until it was as dark as I needed...Then you can cut the words and images apart for all sorts of layering and embellishing effects...The ones I used on my 6x6 snow scene layout the other day...I also sponged some Tea dye distress ink around the edges...just for added interest...

More Embossing Techniques

I just had to play with more coasters and chipboard to see what it would do...I used my good old Red Sizzix machine, with the converter plate and regular white cutting pad...I put the coaster into the embossing folder and pressed the handle, moved the folder thru and pressed again...Oh my goodness...you should have seen my little gears turning...in my head...I loved it...I also wanted to check out the chipboard, this is kinda same thickness as the coaster...maybe a tad thinner, but not much...I used a stipple brush and Rose Madder Nick Bantock ink to color the coaster, then I used the Black Soot distress pad and just rubbed it across the raised embossed areas...I loved it...black and pink are my thing anyway...with a little lime green thrown in...ah...heaven...Oh, ok...then I stippled some black ink onto the chipboard and lightly rubbed my Gold Brilliance pad over the raised embossed areas...It looks killer in person...I tried to photograph it at a bit of an angel...to help the gold show better...Hopefully it does...well...needless to say...my addiction, just got worse...LOL...

Storage room clean up

I finally got to finish going thru boxes in my storage area of my studio...some of these boxes have been packed up for over 6 years...I had no idea what I even owned...needless to say...i found some awesome treasures...at least i was able to weed out all the garbage, and ucky stuff from inside the boxes, condense some...and now, within reason, I kinda think I know what I own...at least I know its in a box in this room...LOL...now...hopefully when I get studio time...it wont be cleaning up in the storage area...
