I had a little bit of play time today, so I started one of the Accordion Book in a Tin Kits...I sanded the tin to give it some tooth, then painted it with off white acrylic paint, then applied some alcohol inks to give some background color...I added some green acrylic paint around the edge and just over the top of the lid...I added a piece of torn mulberry and some images from Lisa's Altered Art collage images...it was time to come home for supper, so this is all I had time to do to the tin today...more to come...
I also started the accordion book...I painted the chipboard covers with off white acrylic paint, then painted a background using acrylics...I stamped the branch from Innovative Stamp Creations and added the nest and bluebird image from Lisa's Altered Art...not finished with it yet, but had fun with what I got done today...
I will have enough of these kits available to put them on the studio blog...The kit comes with everything you see here for $2.99 plus Shipping...Tin, accordion book panel, chipboard covers, brackets, swirl, flourishes, images from Lisa's Altered Art and assorted embellishments and for covering the tin a 5x8 sheet of handmade paper, colors will vary per kit...The accordion book and the chipboard covers have rounded corners, so it fits perfectly in the tin...Check out the studio blog for ordering http://thestudioinpreston.blogspot.com

Matchbox Accordion Book Kit
This is the outside top of my matchbox, I used some of my new stamps from Innovative Stamp Creations http://www.innovativestampcreations.com I stamped the small branch and bird on the cover layering piece...I used two photo holders glued together, then inked with the same brown used to color the box, I attached the photo holder handle with tiny antique colored brads...
I used the larger branch and bird on the inside of the accordion book...I made my own little leaf stamp, from the excess rubber as I trimmed my stamps...I just cut a little shape that looked like a leaf...and it worked perfectly...
This is the cover of the accordion book...I painted the chipboard covers with brown acrylic paint, then used Tea Dye Crackle Paint over a section of the cover...I love those cracks...I added a torn pattern paper piece, and stamped my words and coated them with Glossy Accents...I added the Tim Holtz washers and a clear acrylic stone to each washer center...
This is how the book looks in the drawer part of the box and the decorated sleeve...
Here is the Accordion book opened...its not finished yet...but I wanted to show what I had done so far...You can get your own kit and make one now...check out my studio blog at http://thestudioinpreston.blogspot.com and order yours today...A great kit at a great price....Perfect for a class project...More samples to come soon...

My Granddaughter.............
Collage Style Stamping
I do not know why the colors are so different from photo to photo...they were all made at the same time, same lighting, etc...Oh well...I did these collage stamped pieces in 2003 and 2004...they were gifts for my husband before we were married...This one I made in 2004...I computer generated the verses on a sheet of cardstock then I stamped the background using various images and colors of Ranger inks, then stippled the entire piece with inks...
The computer part was printed with a laser printer...I did let it set up for a day, before doing the stamping and adding the stippled inks...I wanted to make sure the black ink was cured somewhat before I added wet inks over it...My husband collects wolf stuff...with knowing this as we were dating...I bought this wolf image and used it as the main stamped image in the background...
I also stamped the same images, inks, etc onto a mat and framed it all...He hung it on the wall next to his bed, and thats where it still hangs today...I think this was the piece I gave him for our first anniversary...
This is not really collage stamped, as the words are computer generated and the background is actually made from torn papers, but it could be done with stamping as well...I used an acrylic box frame and a decorative mat...
I layered mulberry and decorative papers over a piece of cardstock, computer generated the message onto vellum, then tore each piece out and attached to the cardstock background with eyelets...
This was the first piece I made my hubby in 2003...I found this frame at dollar general, its a dark blue 8x8 frame...and it was perfect for what I had in mind...we knew from our first date, we were meant to be together...I had started buying stamps, that I wanted to use in making cards and projects for him...
I started with a plain piece of cardstock, cut to fit the frame...then I stamped the script images first, repeatedly across the piece, then begain layering the other stamped images over that, working from the lighter ink colors to the bolder or darker colors last...The lighter colors and images were stamped more often to create some movement within the piece, where the darker stamped images are only stamped once, they come forward and make a statement...I added some stippling with butterscotch ink to soften the entire piece, and it looks very nice in the dark blue frame...

I found my lace and trim....
gees...I really need to get more organized...about the time I think I have made some headway...I end up with boxes like these...I knew I had a box with some laces and trims...I have had this stuff for years...I used to sew and do craft shows...now, I use some of this kinda stuff when I make my handmade books...I did not realize that I still had this stuff...I have not seen some of it in so many years...now....I guess I need to start looking at more ways to use lace in my art...
I was thrilled with the find...but, dang...where am I going to put all this stuff...back to more organizing next week...

New Cards with ISC...
I finally got to play with my newest set of nesties....I love the scalloped square and decided to make a quick card using some of the layers...All stamps used are http://www.innovativestampcreations.com
I like the way this card turned out...I started out by sanding the pattern paper, then lightly rubbing with distress ink...I stamped the bird, then masked him, stamped the branch, then stamped just the end again, to make the branch a bit larger, I used my martha border punch to make the trim for the bottom edge of the layering panel...I used the martha flower punch to make the blossoms for the branch and the flower at the top corner...I used my bone folder to curl the flower petals some, glued the flowers onto the branch, then added gold metallic paint to the centers...I layered two of the larger punch flower shapes, added a clear stone for the center...
Attention to detail...notice how the pattern paper design shows thru the bird slightly...I like that look, and the tiny punched flower shapes, work perfect with this branch stamp image...Be sure and check out Betsy's stamps and get this set...its so versatile...and we all love birds....

My Wedding Layouts-Sharing some scrapbooking...
This is actually our engagement layout...this was the photo that was in the newspaper announcing our engagement and wedding plans...I had been collecting stuff to make layouts with since we had been together...LOL...I just knew he was the one...and he says he knew it too...I did some computer printed vellum verses and used some clear stickers that I colored with alcohol inks...
This layout is our wedding vows part...a friend of mine was running around taking photos for me...she got some really great shots and it allowed me to make the pages, just like I wanted them to be...As you can see in the one photo, we got married on a veranda...with the pond-(i call bodies of water that big, lakes,) but they call it "the pond"...anyway...we decorated an arch attached to the railing and filled it with all sorts of wild flowers and sunflowers...it was a beautiful spring day, and everything was perfect...
I love this photo, but what folks didn't know, was he could not get the ring on my fat little finger...LOL...it finally went on...but it was kinda funny to both of us...and yes, we had practiced before hand...I loved this sunflower paper, the first time I saw it at the scrapbook store, and new I had to use it in my album...
and of course this is my favorite photo, we are married in this one...I had chose pink and black as my colors, but wanted lots of other accent colors, I love color, so I used wild flowers and sunflowers to add all the other colors...we got married on may 15, 2005 and I have only done 6 layouts so far...but, hopefully I can get more layouts done within the next few months...thats my goal anyway...
I wanted to share the photos of these layouts, as a friend wanted to see my wedding pics...so figured this was a good way to let her see them...
