Painted ATC's...Snowmen in May

This is a white cardstock ATC, I just freehand drew the snowman shape on and started painting...i think he is cute...

These two are chipboard ATC's, I basecoated with dark blue paint and then freehand painted the snowmen on each...I am thinking about doing a few mor of these and use some blue lights for my Charlie Brown Christmas tree this year...I will share a finished one later on...

Painted die cuts

Tiny terra cotta tray...painted a purple coneflower in the center and leaves around the inside, sponged the outside...
Frame with oval opening, cut from chipboard, basecoated off white, sponged with blue and green acrylic paints, flowers/leaves, painted using acrylics, sealed...

This will be another book when I am finished with it...I painted a scene on a coaster...will add cardstock pages and bind it all binding...

This is painted on a chipboard circle approx 2.75...

Painted daisies on a coaster, added cardstock pages and made a mini book...Some painted items will be for sale on my decorative painting blog http://painteddaisygifts.blogspot.com/ and my Etsy shop http://thestudioinpreston.etsy.com/

Simple Pop Out Card

This is the outside of the card layed flat...you would decorate this part now...this is an A2 panel.
This is the inside pop out panel...accordion folded...this part is cut 1/4 inch smaller all around than the outside of the card...fold in half, then accordion the panel...

Now, cut out a shape, approx like showed above...does not have to be a heart...just make sure its centered...

This is an overview of the card put together...

Be sure your accordion pops out when you fold the card shut...

I marked the inside back card approx where my heart shaped opening on the accordion panel is...so I could space my painting in that area...

This is how the painting looks thru the heart opening...I will add some more foo foo later...this was all I had time to finish today...

Painted books

I finally got to finish my books I started over a week or so ago...I made a pear book, green cardstock pages and spiral binding...it has 8 pages...
The pumpkin shaped book has deep rust colored cardstock pages...and spiral binding...

The chicken coaster book, have pretty cream parchment look pages...would be great for sharing special recipes in...speaking of recipes...I have to go cook now...LOL...

Painted chipboard and cardstock

I painted this little scene on a Moo sized chipboard die cut...this was fun to paint...freehand, right outta my head...I know, y'all are thinking...gees what is in her head...LOL...I basecoated the acid free chipboard moo card with white acrylic paint, then did a wash of blue for the sky and brown for the ground...I wanted more of a plowed field look, rather than all green...this is kinda how the area looks right now, with the farmers getting the fields ready to plant...

I did a little scene on a heart shaped chipboard die cut...we have a lot of barns around here with similar looks...I may turn this one into a little book...I really like making the books with painted covers...
I had the most wonderful chat with a fellow painter and soon to be avid paper crafter this morning...she lives in Florida...we chatted about painting, cardstock, card making, etc...I painted the blue rose buds on a basic A2 size card...

Closer look at the rosebuds...

Painted boxes and frame

I love to paint and decorate paper mache pieces...I found these little shaped boxes in my stash of stuff from years ago...I based coated each one with white acrylic paint, then added the decorative painting, I painted each box bottom to coordinate with the painting on top and then sealed everything with waterbased varnish...
The sides and bottoms of each box shown above...

Small square paper mache box...I decided to do little bird houses, instead of a barn type house for this scene...

This is a chipboard frame cut from my custom die I had made...I wanted a 4 inch frame with a 2 inch opening...I like having the 1 inch wide frame for decorating...I will definately be doing more of these frames...i enjoyed painting this one...i basecoated the chipboard with off white acrylic paint, two coats, then I added a wash of blue color for the sky and green for the grass area...then painted in the details of the scene...
when I base coat my chipboard and paper mache pieces, I generally use two to three coats of white or off white acrylic paint...I paint each basecoat on, going the opposite direction with each coat...first coat side to side, second coat, top to bottom, then i kinda sand the piece using either very fine sanding disc or a piece of brown paper bag, then add a final coat if needed going the side to side direction again...this seems to give a smoother surface for working on...

Painting time

Folk art style cat, on watercolor paper, I transferred the cat shape, then did the detail freehand...he may turn out to be a card front...still pondering him...
Paper mache bird house I found in my stash of supplies...I had fun painting this one...this is the front view of the house...

This is the back view...now, i need to find a little bird to stick on it...LOL...

This is another coaster book I am working on...I painted the chicken on it...and will bind with the bind it all with cardstock pages...

Close up view of detail...I think my feathers effect needs more work...but i like her...

Painted Chipboard die cuts

I die cut the pear from chipboard, basecoated off white, washed the sky with blue and the grass with green...We have lots of old barns here where I live...so I tend to paint lots of barns...
Fall is my favorite time of year...and I love pumpkins...hmmm...Pumpkin bread...oh, I was painting this one...I decided to paint a fall scene with a little house on the chipboard pumpkin die cut...I basecoated the pumpkin with off white paint and washed the sky blue and the field area in a deep yellow...I could live in that little cottage...
I think these will both be book covers...a pear book and a pumpkin book...yep...books...

Hand painted ATC's

This is the first time I stamped my Magnolia image I won from Donalda's Blog, quite a while back...I stamped her on a watercolor paper ATC...colored her in using acrylics thinned down to watercolor consistency...I think she is pretty cool...
I just love this little puppy...I have painted it a few times on various surfaces...

I just love this ATC...I used the lady bug image and words from The Stamping Studio...stamped in Ranger Jet Black Archival ink...I watercolored the ladybugs using acrylic paint...then using thinned paint, added the little dashed lines to create the movement of the ladybugs on the surface...

Butterfly card, Gingerbread Mom and baby, Apple Mini Book

Butterfly image from Innovative Stamp Creations, stamped with Ranger Jet Black Archival ink, acrylic paints thinned to a watercolor consistency...
These gingerbread people were so much fun to paint...I painted the large one like the mom and the little one like her baby boy...

Closer view of the details...

The Mini Apple Book was fun to make...I started out basecoating the chipboard apple with off white paint, then did a wash of green for the grass area and blue for the sky area...I freehand painted the little scene onto the apple...I decided I wanted to make a book out of it...so I cut out some green apples for the pages and another chipboard apple for the back cover, basecoated it in green...I used my Crop a dile to punch the holes for my spiral bind it all binding...

The green apple book pages...

Handpainted Mini Books

I am making mini books using the coasters I have been doing handpainted designs on...Each book has 9 color coordinated cardstock pages and bind it all binding...These books are going to be perfect for sharing photos, recipes, memories and more...
