More Art Today

I got a good start on some of my Christmas gifts today...got some of the mat board die cuts started for the necklaces and bracelets I will be giving to my grand daughters and niece...Finished up some boxes I started yesterday...and got all but one of the die cut orders from the weekend, cut and shipped...The pelican box uses stamps from Lasting Impressions with Panache...The Sunflower box uses stamps from Innovative Stamp Creations...I love that harlequin background...Betsy did an awesome job creating that stamp...The mat board pieces are stamped with images from TAC and The Stamping Studio...I think the little cat is a PSX...but not sure...One of my grand daughters is into cats and that is the only one that would fit...If you have any questions email me at debbiesdiecuts@earthlink.net

Altered Art Boxes

I got some more play time in the studio today...I made my box covers from Die Cuts With a View patterned cardstock...I love this stuff...I had some embellishments that just begged to be used on some boxes...The Letter B was done with my sizzix shadow box alpha...then sealed with glossy accents...all the other embellishments were glued on using glossy accents too...The lavender box was embellished with a scrap of K&Co patterned paper that I tore and sponged the edges with purple distress ink... Added prima flowers with Stickles glitter centers...and Love word charm...actually the Love word charm was the inspiration for the box...I love violets...so it worked for me...

Snowman Bracelet

I am loving these little mat board die cut shapes that I have...They stamp and color perfectly...I begin by gluing two of the shapes together, then stamp my images and color...Once dry, I coat with Ranger Glossy Accents...do this to each side...I used a 1/16th inch punch to make the hole in the top of the piece, then using a jump ring, attach to the bracelet blank...You can see more samples of the mat board die cut shapes on my picture trail site and ordering info is there too, http://www.picturetrail.com/debbiesdiecuts All the Ranger products I use are purchased thru http://www.innovativestampcreations.com and the snowman stamps I used are from http://www.thestampingstudio.com For more info email me at debbiesdiecuts@earthlink.net

More Altered Box Art

I got to work on some of the boxes I have been making notes about in my journal...I keep a journal for all my ideas...Sometimes at night, when I have my down time before bed...I make notes to myself about stuff I want to try with my die cuts...I draw little diagrams for how I want to place embellishments, add ribbon, layer, etc...I go back and look at my journal when I have studio time...and then work on my ideas...Sometimes an idea just won't work the way I would like...and other times, they work better than expected...Here are the boxes I created today...Three of the boxes use stamps from some of my favorite companies...and one box does not use any stamps...just scrapbook paper and embellishments...Hope you enjoy these as much as I enjoyed making them...

More Domino Art

I will use these domino's to make necklaces and pins...I have had quite a few people ask me how I do my dominos...so I thought I would give you my instructions...I use a variety of means to color or create a background on the dominos...mostly I use Ranger Alcohol inks...but sometimes I leave the domino plain and then color using permanent pens such as a sharpie or Ranger Adirondack markers...I heat set after every step I do...I use the Heat It Craft Tool that I ordered thru Betsy at www.innovativestampcreations.com I order all my Ranger supplies thru her...and I own over half of her stamp sheets...Technique 1. Use Ranger AI to create a background color on the domino...Heat set. Stamp onto domino using some type of permanent ink, Memories Black, Black Document, Stazon, Brilliance, etc...I use some of all...Heat Set again...now you can apply other colors if needed/wanted using sharpies, adirondack markers, more alcohol inks, etc...Heat Set again...next I use a gold metallic type marker to color the edges of the domino...I generally use gold...but sometimes i use silver or copper...Once the edges are dry...I apply a layer of Ranger Glossy Accents to the top of the domino...then if I am adding Suze Beads or other charms, etc...I put those items in the wet glossy accents...Let this dry completely...then I apply a thin coat to the edges over the gold...I generally do this with my finger...Let that dry...By then I have decided which bead is going to be glued to the top edge of the domino for the ribbon, fiber, etc to be threaded thru to make the necklace part from...I use Ranger Glossy Accents to glue the bead onto the domino...Once this is dry...I thread the bead onto the ribbon I am using for the necklace...make sure its long enough to go over my head and then tie the ribbon in a knot...I leave it lose enough that I can untie and change ribbon colors if needed...You can thread other beads, etc onto the ribbon as desired to enhance your jewelry also...Hope this helps you create with dominos...

More Altered Art and Domino Necklace gift ideas

I just love snowmen...and when I saw this set of snowman stamps at www.thestampingstudio.com I knew I had to make boxes, with domino necklaces as gifts for teachers this year...well, and for me, and my mom, and my grand daughters...and...well, you get the idea...I used watercolors to add color to the snowmen...and then coated them with Ranger Glossy Accents...I added some glitter with Ice Stickles...The domino's were coated with Ranger Alcohol inks in stonewashed and the gold additive...then stamped and heat set...I added some gold to accent using Brilliance Galaxy Gold, then heat set again...then coated each domino with Glossy Accents...I also used it to glue the beads to the tops of the domino's...The Ugly box...well, thats what I call it...I just could not get it to look good...no matter what I was doing...so I quit on it...and made the Leaf domino, which I rather like...and may end up keeping for myself...depends on if I run across somebody I like more than me...LOL...and using the large barrell type beads, attahced to the top of the domino, makes changing ribbons for the necklaces so easy...you can change the ribbon color to match your clothing, etc...I sell the die cut boxes thru my picture trail site, you can see them here http://www.picturetrail.com/debbiesdiecuts and if I can help you further you can email me at debbiesdiecuts@earthlink.net ...More ideas coming soon...
