I had a blast making this Sucker Bouquet...Back when I worked at the M store, we used to make mini versions of this, but with a simple happy birthday stamped and stuck in the container...I had not thought about making those in so many years...but the other day I saw one on Splitcoast Stampers...and it brought back some fun memories of the various bouquets we used to make...So I decided to make this for my hubby's cousins husband today...Its by the Grace of God this man is still here and able to see the big 60...and he will get such a kick outta this...
I started with a terra cotta pot, base coated it white, then with light brown acrylic paint...I used the beautiful wood grain background image from Innovative Stamp Creations...and dark brown acrylic paint...I used a sponge to apply the paint to the stamp, then repeatedly stamped it around the pot...after it dried, I spattered on some black acrylic paint, let that dry then sealed with some waterbased varnish...
My goal was to fill the pot with 60 suckers...it has more than sixty...as I got carried away....LOL...I filled the pot with styro foam, then covered the top of the foam with green tissue paper, so if any showed thru, well, needless to say, I used enough suckers...it does not show...LOL...
I made the message and attached them to wooden skewers so they would be taller and line the back side of the bouquet...I used the same wood grain background stamp to stamp the rust colored cardstock, then used a circle punch to punch out my first layer, then used my nesties to get the black layer, then the scalloped nestie for the green layer, I also cut a green layer using that first punched shape...I used my Fruit smoothie sizzix alpha...for the message...I attached the pieces to the skewers with glossy accents for the glue, then used the green round shape as a backing...

This is great! My hubby will be 50 next year, and guess what he's getting? Wonderful job. Thanks for sharing.
This is a fantastic idea!! DH turns 50 in July, and has been moaning about "life is over" and "I'm so old" I think I'll borrow this idea and tweak it a bit..
Great job, Debbie!
