I love working with faux painting techniques and effects...Having over 20 years of decorative painting experience, I am enjoying the new embossing folders and all the effects and techniques I can do with them...I showed a faux metal technique last fall, that I have used for painting boxes and such for years...One of my favorite painting finishes was "patina green verdigris" on black base coated ceramic, plaster of paris, and even cement statues...The above frame kinda uses a reverse techinque, with a dark green glaze as the basecoat...I used a cardstock die cut frame and basecoated it with a dark green acrylic glaze...when dry, cuttlebug embossed, then using black stazon ink I rubbed the ink pad across the embossing...I added some Gold metallic acrylic paint using a piece of saran wrap and just dabbed on the gold, kinda hit and miss fashion...once that was dry, I spattered a bit of thinned black paint over the entire piece...
This is the "patina verdigris" effect...I love the paisley embossing folder...and it works great for this technique...
I started with a black die cut frame, then using a sponge and just a touch of patina green acrylic paint, I rubbed ever so lightly, kinda hit and miss...
This frame uses another new cuttlebug embossing folder...kinda reverse effect, as the design is recessed...I really like this look...
This is the reverse effect of this embossing folder...I started with the teal/patina'ish shade of paint to base coat a die cut frame...then ran thru the embossing folder, so the recessed image is now the front of my frame...I used Stazon black ink rubbed over the raised areas...then added some gold paint...
This is another shade of patina/teal paint to basecoat this frame...I used the music notes embossing folder, then added the gold in a hit and miss fashion...
This is a very neat technique...Lots of possibilities for this technique on lots of surfaces...I have more coming soon...

Gosh, I just had to re-read your post. , and Debbie, all of your examples are awesome. As a lover of techniques, these really appeal to me. I'm a faux finisher too need to learn to think outside the box and encorporate products from faux finishing into paper crafting like you. You are amazing. Can't wait to see what else you have in store for us!
