Painted Rooster on Canvas

This is one of my favorite paintings...and one of only a few I still own...We raised Bantam chickens when I was growing up...After a while, daddy let them all mix breed...and we had some gorgeous roosters outta the bunch...This rooster kinda looks like some of those chickens we raised...I used an oil painting book for the basic concept...and then used my own colors to paint this rooster...I did him back in the early 90's...He is in a frame and hangs in the kitchen, which is so fitting...because my husbands family used to raise chickens and had a huge egg business on the farm...we have old chicken houses behind our house where we live...
